What's old is new again. That certainly is the case with the high energy group The Headstones. These guys were playing top 40 rock 'n roll back in the sixties and now they're doing it all over again! This is not just a band, this is top-shelf entertainment. They have shared the stage with notable acts over the years and most recently with Three Dog Night, Ronnie McDowell and Foreigner!
The amazing thing about this group is that it has most of its' original members and now they are back playing their music from the sixties. The newest member started playing in the Louisville area in the sixties for some big name bands and is a seasoned musician as well. They all still posess the same passion for playing and use a professional production company to help deliver the songs that everyone from that era still loves. The music takes people back to their youth and all the good times they had. Many more of today's young people are discovering just how good the music, from back in the day, really is.
"These guys are really good!" said Les Cook, Program Director and morning DJ for WAKY 103.5 FM, Kentuckiana's Oldies Station. "I have seen a lot of shows and heard a lot of bands over the years, and when it comes to rock 'n roll from the 60's and 70's, nobody is better than The Headstones."
The group played to a sold out performance on July 1, 2006 for The Headstones Reunion Concert and played for the Grand Reopening of the renovated State Theater in their hometown of Elizabethtown, Kentucky. The response was overwhelming when people packed the house to sing and dance the night away. The band continues to attract thousands of fans to their concerts and events like the WAKY World's Largest Free Picnic held in the infield at Churchill Downs. The band is now targeting corporate events, class reunions and promoting their newly released CD entitled "You had to be there."
